Okotoks Kite Scavenger Hunt

Thank you to everyone who joined us this weekend for our Kite Scavenger Hunt – we are happy to share that we had more than 50 participants!

Congratulations to our winners Elizabeth Pitura and Jake Heaton who each won a draw for a $50 gift card to a local business of their choosing.

As there was such a great number of participants this year, we also entered everyone’s name into an additional draw for a $15 gift card - Congrats to our winner Ava Linton!

Thanks again for a great event, and we hope to see you next year!

The Okotoks Kite Festival will be returning May 28 and 29 with our Kite Scavenger Hunt!

Rather than a large gathering as was organized by the Town in years prior to the pandemic, this iteration of the festival  will take the form of a scavenger hunt.

Hidden through the community of Okotoks will be 24 kites, these can be found on or near benches, fences, and other landmarks.

The kites will be put up by Town staff on Friday May 27, with a clue sheet released that afternoon. Using the clue sheet, which will contain images and other hints about locations, participants can track down the kites and participate in our draw.

Kite hunters will be looking to track down at least three kites and must submit photos of the kites they’ve found in order to be entered into a draw for a $50 gift card to a local business of the winner’s choosing.

To enter the draw, participants can submit their photos, along with their name and e-mail to events@okotoks.ca.

An additional $50 gift card will be awarded to the participant who tracks down the most kites. If there is a tie, there will be a draw completed to determine the winner.

We encourage those taking part in the scavenger hunt to share their journey of finding kites on social media with the hashtag #OkotoksKites.

Other ways to participate:
People may still opt to go fly a kite of their own. For craftier kite flyers, or those who don’t own one already, check out the below toolkit featuring a set of video tutorials to make a homemade kite with household items.
