2021 Seniors' Week

to

The Town has proclaimed Seniors’ Week as June 7-13, 2021. This week is an opportunity to honour and recognize the importance of seniors in our community and all they do to help make Okotoks stronger together through supporting family members and friends, assisting charities and volunteering their time. The Town and its planning partners invite all our resilient seniors to join in the week's events and celebrate, while still ensuring everyone’s safety during COVID-19.

Highlights from Seniors' Week!

Last fall, we invited seniors in the communities of Okotoks, Black Diamond, Turner Valley, Foothills County, High River and Longview to share their stories about how they made it through a difficult time in their lives through Project SOS: Share Our Stories. This collection of stories speaks to the experience and resilience of the seniors in our communities, and is helping others find inspiration on how to face their own challenges.

Take the time to read the touching, witty, heartfelt and emotional stories from Project SOS this Seniors' Week, and maybe even find inspiration to share your own stories with your friends and loved ones!

Thank you to all the Town’s planning partners who have made these activities possible!

Find helpful resources for seniors:

  • The Community Resource Guide is where you will find information, contacts, listings for support services and more
  • If you feel like you’d like a regular call, email or a text from one of the Town’s caring volunteers to hear a friendly voice for a quick, casual chat, sign up for the Daily Check In Program

We all know a senior in our life, our community, our church, our association, our neighbourhood, or our family who has made a difference. They have helped build and establish the community we live in, are often the first to volunteer their time. This Seniors' Week, thank a senior in your life and remind them of the important role they play in making #OkotoksStrongerTogether!

We've created a thank you card that you can download and print, or get creative and make your own! Drop the thank you note at their doorstep or drop by and say a personal thank you (from a safe physical distance of course)!
