There are residents in Okotoks who are unable to remove snow from their property and need extra help. By Adopting a Sidewalk you will be matched with a resident for the winter season and will shovel as needed. The impact this has on the recipients of the program is huge -- residents are able to get safely in and out of their homes.
Adopt a Sidewalk Program
Are you a resident of Okotoks who needs assistance with shovelling your sidewalk or driveway?
If you’ll need a hand clearing snow this winter, modest income residents age 70+ or with a permanent disability, and no one in the home who can shovel, may be eligible for the Adopt a Sidewalk Program.
Call the Family Resource Centre for more information: 403.995.2626 or print the following application.
Be a friendly neighbour this winter and Adopt a Sidewalk.
Do you want to help a senior or someone with a disability who can't clear their snow away? Why not sign up to Adopt a Sidewalk and help them this winter.
Anyone can be a Snow Angel!
Do you have neighbours who may need a temporary hand with shovelling their sidewalk or driveway? After a snowfall, take a look up and down your street to see if you can be someone’s Snow Angel, and lend a hand to those who may need help clearing their snow. The seniors, new parents, those who are ill, injured or just need a temporary hand will appreciate their friendly neighbours!
No program registration required, just grab a shovel and be a good neighbor - and please remember to keep fire hydrants clear.
Recognize your Snow Angel
Has a caring Snow Angel assisted you with snow clearing? Let them know how much you appreciate it by recognizing them with a surprise gift from Gift It Forward, or nominate them for Kindness Currency – they’ll get a piece of Kindness Currency to keep and one to pass on to keep the kindness going.
