Okotoks Entrepreneurial Ecosystem (OEE)

Formed in 2020, the OEE represents a grouping of likeminded stakeholders focused on establishing a collaborative foundation with a group of vested businesses and service groups within the Town of Okotoks to better serve the business community efficiently and strategically. Understanding the complexity and challenges working with stakeholder groups nonetheless, the following were high level desired outcomes to be achieved by the project:

  • Service providers have a better understanding of how to collectively support the business community needs in the Town of Okotoks.
  • Establish an understanding of the importance of businesses being able to access timely and relevant resources efficiently.
  • Become more strategic instead of reactive.
  • Work together to communicate and collaborate eliminating the need for creating ad hoc, informal groups.
  • Alignment with economic development priorities.
  • Collaborative service provider events and marketing.
  • Inclusivity for stakeholders and business community
  • Support for the collaboration and advancement of an impactful, strategic, inclusive downtown association.

Founding members of the OEE include:

Okotoks River District Business Association (RDBA)

The River District is located just South of Calgary in the centralized community of Downtown Okotoks. This new business district covers the majority of businesses along the Sheep River, spanning from the Town span of Elizabeth Street down to the Dawg Stadium along 32nd Street.

To be more inclusive and strategic, the boundaries of downtown have expanded from Crystalridge Drive (West) to Motion Fitness area (East) and Elma Street (North) with the river being the South boundary. This new area will be called the River District.
