Budget 2021

2021 Budget Message from CAO Vincent

“The 2021 Budget is going to be different and will present challenges the Town has not experienced before,” said CAO Elaine Vincent. “There has never been a more important time for the public to participate in building the municipal budget, to help us understand the impact that COVID-19 has had on our community and determine how to build a balanced budget while continuing to provide the services our community needs.”

Thank you for taking the survey!

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant financial impact on the Town. Although it is still early to anticipate the full economic repercussions of COVID-19, the Town will continue to face reductions in revenue and increased costs in 2021. This provides an opportunity to rethink and review the services offered to citizens.

Although it is still early to anticipate the full economic repercussions of COVID-19, the Town will continue to face reductions in revenue and increased costs into 2021. This provides an opportunity to rethink and review the services offered to the community.

There has never been a more important time to participate in building the 2021 budget. Your input will help the Town determine the community’s priorities and where Council needs to focus for the 2021 budget.

Survey results from Phase 1 were compiled and published in the September 28 Council Agenda Package. Make sure to watch for Phase 2 coming up in early October!

Phase 1

The first phase of the budget consultation was a survey, that ran from September 8 until September 23, to help Council establish the budget guidelines for building the 2021 budget. The first public engagement was a check-in on the impact that COVID-19 has had on residents and what that means for the types of Town services they will need in 2021.

Phase 2

Phase 2 will begin in early October and dig even deeper into the community’s priorities by asking residents and business owners to make critical choices on community service levels. In Phase 2, residents will be asked to make more specific choices on how to adjust service levels to meet their needs while maintaining a balanced budget.

Citizen Panel

By registering for the Citizen Panel, you will be joining a group of engaged citizens that want to be contacted for future public consultation opportunities. Signing up is voluntary. More opportunities to register for the Citizen Panel will be available in Phase 2 coming in October.
