The Town of Okotoks has many new construction and infrastructure projects.  This includes the completion of multi-phased projects started in previous years and the planning of new multi-phased projects that will enhance the Town’s roadways, utilities, buildings, and recreational parks and facilities. We know that construction can impact residents and businesses and we thank you for your patience while we complete this work.

Construction Projects

Handrail Installation Above Veterans Way Memorial
Project Details

The Town is having a handrail installed above the Veterans Way memorial on Tuesday, April 7, weather permitting. In preparation for this work, please be advised that on Friday, April 3, the sidewalk on the west side will receive treatment to accommodate the handrail. 

A full closure of the sidewalk will occur Monday, April 6 and pedestrians will be asked to use to sidewalk on the east side of Veterans Way for the day. 

Please watch for signage and use caution in the area.  Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Northridge Drive Urbanization Project
Project Details

To accommodate current development and plan for future growth, the Town needs to make upgrades to Northridge Drive.  Upgrades are needed to create uniformity throughout the corridor.  Presently, the north end of Northridge Drive (between 338 Avenue & Sandstone Gate) is a 4-lane rural standard and requires upgrades to meet growing demand and the overall vision for the Town's future growth.  To view map of project area, please click the button below.

NORTHRIDGE DRIVE URBANIZATION PROJECT MAP 

This summer will see the partial implementation of the 2019/2020 Northridge Drive Urbanization project design.  The Town will build a section of pathway, and incorporate landscaping, along Northridge Drive (Sandstone Gate to Milligan Drive; Milligan Drive to Banister Gate).  Click button below to review scope.

Good Shepherd School Pathway Project
Project Details

In support of the Town’s Active Transportation Strategy and Council’s strategic directions to provide quality infrastructure and to promote active modes of transportation, the Town will be adding a pathway near the Good Shepherd School playground; please click button below to see work area.  This location was specifically identified in the above-mentioned Strategy as an area that would benefit from a pathway connection.

Work Area

As an important connection between the school and Town pathway network, the pathway is tentatively scheduled to be constructed in summer/fall 2020.  Construction activities will comply with the noise bylaw.  Please expect temporary traffic disruption and pedestrian detours, watch for signage and use caution in the area.  Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Drake Landing Storm Pond Maintenance
Project Details

Please be advised that, for storm pond maintenance, some pathway, sidewalk and partial lane closures are expected in the vicinity of the Drake Landing Storm Pond (please click button below to see image). This work, being completed by Anthem United, Signage will be in place; please watch for heavy construction equipment and use caution in the area. Project Update

Restoration/Landscaping

TELUS contractors will be back in Okotoks to finish restoration of landscaping (including hydroseeding {grass restoration} when conditions permit) in Spring 2020. TELUS is responsible for all remediation on this project and are required to restore areas disturbed by their work. Residents and business owners/operators are encouraged to contact the AFL Customer Care hotline (1-844-343-1222) for any issues or concerns they may have resulting from the 2018/2019 work.
