*NEW* in 2018

Parks no longer string trims the back of private fence adjacent to open spaces. We've changed our practice due to many incidents of our crews or our contractors damaging private fence. The commercial grade string trimmers that we use can easily chew up the lighter gauge residential chain link fence. Residential fence, initially installed by the developer, is placed approximately 4 inches (10cm) within the property boundary. Residents are responsible for maintaining landscaping up to their property line (which includes both sides of the fence). Should a resident not have access to the back of their fence (no rear yard gate), then that's the exception where we'll continue to string trim it for now. We have piloted this change over the past three years in a few parks without complaint and now we're moving it Town-wide. Notification on this service change is published in the local newspaper June 20, July 4, and July 18.
