To accommodate current development and plan for future growth, the Town needs to make upgrades to Northridge Drive. Upgrades are needed to create uniformity throughout the corridor. Presently, the north end of Northridge Drive (between 338 Avenue & Sandstone Gate) is a 4-lane rural standard and requires upgrades to meet growing demand and the overall vision for the Town's future growth. As part of phase one of the Northridge Drive Urbanization project, approved in the 2019 capital budget, the Town will be implementing active transportation and landscaping improvements along Northridge Drive. The Alberta government has declared that construction is considered an essential service; following Provincial direction and continuing with projects like this is a priority for the Town.
The new construction, in support of the Town’s Active Transportation Strategy and Council’s strategic directions to provide quality infrastructure and promote modes of active transportation, will link the pathway from Sandstone Gate to Banister Gate, and along Milligan Drive and Veterans Way. The work is expected to start in early May and take approximately two months to complete. Construction activities will comply with the Town’s noise bylaw and dust control measures will be implemented. Please expect temporary traffic disruption and pedestrian detours, watch for signage and use caution in the area. Please click the button below to see image of work area.
