Parking requirements temporarily relaxed for RVs and shipping containers
In providing ongoing support for the Okotoks community, the Town is temporarily relaxing regulations for the length of time that RVs and shipping containers (PODs, C-cans etc) can be parked at a residence.
Residents and business owners can now keep these on their driveways until June 30.
“This temporary change will help families who need to use their RVs for self-isolation or to support extended family who are in self-isolation, and for those who are financially impacted and need to eliminate storage fees,” said Peter Stapley, Okotoks Municipal Enforcement manager.
Residents who want to park their RVs for an extended period of time can contact Okotoks Municipal Enforcement at 403.995.6302.
Easing regulations around shipping containers will support businesses that have had to close storefronts or leave their locations due to the crisis and need somewhere to temporarily store materials, inventory and equipment.
“We have heard from members of the business community that this is something some of them really need at this time,” said Jamie Dugdale, manager of Planning Services. “We are also encouraging other businesses who have room in their approved, fenced outdoor storage areas to offer space for these containers.”
