PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
DISPOSAL OF MUNICIPAL RESERVE
Monday, May 27, 2019
7:00 PM (or shortly thereafter as Council may decide)
Council Chamber (5 Elizabeth Street)
Council of the Town of Okotoks will consider removing the municipal reserve designation from Lot RB, Plan 741 0113 in accordance with sections 674 and 675 of the Municipal Government Act. The intent is allow for the subject lot to be consolidated with the Town Operations/Waste Water Treatment Site and re-establish the legal riverbank boundary. Click button below to see area.
Lot RB, Plan 741 0113 was originally dedicated in 1974 under the former Planning Act to provide part of the public reserve dedication for the subdivision of part of what is now the Town operations site. However, since that time, the boundaries of the Sheep River have shifted due to natural erosion, flooding, and bank stabilization projects. As such, the boundaries of the lot are no longer consistent with the intent of municipal reserve land.
If approved, this will amount to only a change in the legal status of the lands. The lands are not being sold or leased, and there will be no physical changes to the existing pathway, fencing, or access to the area. Any future subdivision of the site would require consideration of municipal reserve dedication at that time.
Any person or group who feels they are affected by the proposed disposal may make representation at the public hearing. Written submissions received by email, fax, or dropped off by noon on Wednesday, May 22 will be included in the report to Council. Written submissions can be made at the hearing but please provide eighteen (18) duplicate copies. Oral presentations may be made at the hearing whether or not the presenter has provided a written submission but are limited to five minutes in length. All submissions become part of the public record.
Submissions should reference file number D11-BP26.
