New Reality Emergency Event Planning Conference

January 19, 2018

Maintaining the safety of thousands of citizens in a crowd can be a daunting task for protective and emergency services responders, especially in the new era of threats, such as terror attacks, continuing to occur around the world. On Wednesday, emergency and law enforcement agencies from across Alberta gathered in Okotoks to learn and discuss from one another, new strategies and tactics that can be used to mitigate risks at these special events. Subject matter experts were brought in to help us navigate and adapt to the changing landscape of what has been happening around the world, and in our own province, such as the September terrorist attack following a CFL game in Edmonton. Okotoks welcomed Keynote Speakers from the Conference Board of Canada, the Ottawa Police Service, Edmonton Police Service and the Kalian Group for a day of informative insight into the "new reality' of special event planning.
