The Budget 2021 Phase 2 online budget survey is now complete. Watch for the results published November 9. The purpose of the Phase 2 survey was to have residents provide detailed feedback on the findings from the Phase 1 consultation. The Town asked the community to respond to specific levers that can be used to balance the budget, such as potential reductions in services, increases in some user fees, and the addition of new user fees, as well as considering an increase in tax rates.
The results from the first phase of engagement concluded that COVID-19 has had different levels of impact for residents and business owners. It also indicated that citizens have different ideas in terms of how to balance the budget. The information gathered from residents in the first phase helped Council establish the Budget Guidelines that are the foundation for the municipal budget, while additionally measuring the impact that proposed changes in service levels and user fees would have on the community.
The survey ended October 22 at midnight.
Listen to CAO Elaine Vincent talk about the Phase 2 budget survey:
Thank you for taking the Phase 1 survey!
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant financial impact on the Town. Although it is still early to anticipate the full economic repercussions of COVID-19, the Town will continue to face reductions in revenue and increased costs in 2021. This provides an opportunity to rethink and review the services offered to citizens.
There has never been a more important time to participate in building the 2021 budget. Your input will help the Town determine the community’s priorities and where Council needs to focus for the 2021 budget.
Survey results from Phase 1 were compiled and published in the September 28 Council Agenda Package.
