The Volunteer Driver Program is a supportive program for adults (18+) living in Okotoks who require assistance with transportation to appointments. Volunteer drivers provide safe, free and reliable transportation for residents who would otherwise struggle to meet this need. It is a somewhat flexible opportunity, as volunteers can work the drives around their schedules.
In 2019, volunteer drivers logged over 14,000 km driving grateful residents to appointments!
The Program Benefits Two Groups:
- the stress associated with arranging transportation is alleviated
- connections to others in the community are built
- long lasting relationships with volunteer drivers are formed

Do You Need a Driver?
Friends and family members are usually the first to help when transportation to medical appointments is needed. Some Okotoks residents age 60 and older or with a disability use the Community Access Program. The Volunteer Driver Program provides an additional option. Clients must register and request drives at least one week in advance of their appointment date.
All drive requests are managed through the Okotoks Family Resource Centre. Contact the Centre to discuss your needs and learn more about the program.
