About the artists:
LUÍS ADRIÁN JUÁREZ MONTES - voice
Adrián is principally a singer, guitarist, and cajon player, in the world of flamenco. He has studied with respected Mexican teachers such as Rafael Casado (Cajón) and Mauricio López (guitar), as well as a variety of artists from Spain. Along with flamenco, he is well versed in Mexican music, and also the music of Brazil, performing on upright bass and the cavaquinho. He is an experienced artist, having appeared in many festivals throughout Mexico, including Festival Alfonso Ortiz Tirado in Hermosillo (Sonora), el Festival del Desierto in San Luís Potosí, Día Internacional de la Danza in Mexico City, and the Festival Cultural Zacatecas, to name just a few.
RICARDO HUMBERTO SÁNCHEZ - guitar & voice
Originally from Gudalajara, Jalisco, Ricardo began his studies at the tender age of just five years. His skill and aptitude eventually took him to Mexico City, and soon thereafter the world. He has participated in festivals and performances such as the Vancouver International Flamenco Festival - 2013, the 2nd Meeting of Flamenco Art of America - 2017 (Mexico City), Expolatino - 2018 (Calgary, Canada), Flamencos por América - 2018 and 2019 (Argentina, Paraguay, and Chile), Contemporary Dance Festival “Fluid Fest” - 2019 (Calgary, Canada), Victoria Flamenco Festival - 2019 (Canada), 1st International Flamenco Festival “Sur Jondo” - 2019 (Puerto Montt, Chile), Cervantino International Festival "Flor Andaluza Raíz Guerrerense" - 2019 (Guanajuato, Mexico), and the Virtual Victoria Flamenco festival - 2020 (Canada). Ricardo is also well-known as an instructor, teaching virtually, and travelling as far as Poland to share his knowledge.
JONATHAN LEWIS - violin
Jonathan divides his time between Canada and Mexico, performing with a wide variety of different musicians, and playing everything from Mexican boleros, to jazz manouche, to classical and even Greek music. He has toured extensively, and internationally, with ensembles such as Calgary's Plaid Tongued Devils and The Rembetika Hipsters. He is also well-known as a composer for the theatre, his music having been featured in many dozens of productions across Canada. Jonathan is well experienced on the violin and viola, having begun his training at five years old. However, he has also studied Greek bouzouki and baglama, accordion, mandolin, and other instruments.
