How does one represent the effect of one’s past on the personality and individuality into which one evolves?

In Paper Dolls, Pat Grayston uses the one significant ‘girl’ toy in her life to represent aspects that have either lead to significance in her later life or to which she has a strong emotional attachment. Who we were, where we have been, how we were raised, problems encountered and general environment all mingle to channel one’s interests and growth as an individual. Through investigating these memories and expressing them through art, Grayston will leave clarification of who she was and point the direction to who she has become.
