Learn to Play Ukulele for Youth

Learn to play this fun musical instrument easily in this free, online 4-week series for ages 8-14. Instructors Sheena Read and David Milos will start you off quickly learning how to hold and tune the ukulele, and how to strum. From there on, you'll learn chords and songs. If you're playing songs you like, then you're going to practice and have WAY more fun! And Ukulele is all about having fun! You can do it - join us!

What you'll need:

  • Ukulele:
    • The Okotoks Public Library has some rentals available. You can inquire on Tuesdays and Thursdays by phone at  (403) 938-2220 from 10 M to 1 PM.
    • To purchase, contact Sheena Read at foothillsuke@gmail.com. She has some good, tunable beginner ukuleles (Twisted Wood) for sale (some cheap brands do not tune), and can also advise you on what ukulele to buy.
  • Tuner: Sheena has some available  ($8) each if needed.
  • Optional: Strap - Sheena also has these available ($15) and can also give you options on other styles and making straps. Strings: if you need strings on a ukulele you have had for a while, these are also available from Sheena.
