Fire Permits, Inspections & Forms

When do you need a permit?

  • Open burning for cooking or recreational purposes contained within a non-combustible receptacle is allowed, and does not require a permit.
  • For large fires such as bonfires, thawing fires, or fires required for other reasons on your rural property, a burn permit must be obtained from Okotoks Fire & Rescue. These fires must still use clean and dry burning materials. Please review the map of Annexed Areas of Okotoks to determine if your Burn Permit needs to be submitted through the Town of Okotoks or Foothills County.
  • A fireworks permit is required for the Sale, Possession, Handling, and Discharge of fireworks in Okotoks and Foothills County. Please call or visit Okotoks Fire & Rescue to obtain your fireworks permit.
