Off-Site Levies

Off-site levies are charged by the Town to pay for a portion of the capital cost of improvements or expansions to infrastructure which is required as a result of new growth and development within the Town’s boundaries.

Levies are referred to as “off-site” because the infrastructure improvements are typically remote from the developing lands.  Costs associated with the development of the lands are paid for directly by the developer according to the benefit they receive.

Off-site levies are governed by the Municipal Government Act (MGA) and may be used to pay for all or part of the capital cost of any or all of the following:  expansion of water, sanitary sewer, stormwater, or transportation.
