The Town of Okotoks is strongly focused on the conservation, management and enhancement of our community's landscape which includes a diversity of manicured landscapes, natural areas, wetlands and urban forest.  The Town's Parks Department's portfolio includes the management of public parks and open spaces, including sports fields, passive parks, playgrounds, regional and local public pathways, the public urban forest, outdoor rinks and natural areas.

Horticultural information services are also offered to the community at large, focusing on disease control, weed control, wise water use and integrated pest management. 

Xeriscaping

The Town utilizes and promotes xeriscaping (landscaping for water conservation) principles throughout the community.

The purpose of the Town’s Urban Forest Management Plan is to set goals regarding species diversity, diminishing pest and disease losses, and reducing hazards while growing a beautiful, healthy and strong forest asset.
