Summer Camp Support

The Okotoks Family Resource Centre (OFRC) facilitates sending Foothills children to summer camp!

Unfortunately, Our Lady Queen of Peace Ranch, a non-denominational, non-profit organization located in Bragg Creek, has suspended operations for 2017.

Please check in with the Resource Centre February 2018 to see if the camp will be operating.

OFRC partners with theOLQOP ranch  to send children from financially-challenged families to camp. Children between the ages of 7 to 16 are eligible for this FREE, five-day outdoor ranch experience.

OFRC acts as a referring agency to assess family finances and approve registration.

Applying for the Program

Please check with Resource Centre staff in February 2018 to enquire whether the camp is in operation.

Spaces fill quickly. Parents or guardians should contact OFRC and submit financial proof of income in order to be approved for registration.

  • Registrations are on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Families can choose the week they wish their child to attend.
  • Families must transport their children to and from camp.
  • OFRC can only approve families who meet income levels specified by the camp - see chart below.
Important Safety Information

It is very important for families to understand that although the camp has great success with children, part of that success is determined by the camper’s ability to function in the camp environment.  Please DO NOT refer children with the following diagnosis or who are currently being assessed for:

  • ODD/RAD
  • Autism/Asperger’s
  • Severe Allergies requiring epi-pens
  • Severe Depression (a suicide attempt within the last year)
  • Severe Anxiety (camp can be a detriment to them with all the new things)
  • Severe FASD (some have very limited communication and social skills in this category)
  • A child who has not yet been able to control the frequency of their crisis’, using violence/lashing out or running away as                  their coping mechanisms
  • A child whose medication has been recently changed and has yet to regulate within their system.
