Municipal Engineers ensure that appropriate and reasonable engineering design guidelines are in place and followed. They review infrastructure design for all new subdivisions, inspect new infrastructure, and contribute to design and installation activities associated with public roads, lanes and sidewalks, water treatment and distribution, sanitary and storm sewer systems. Engineering has also been assigned the daunting task of managing our traffic signal systems. A big gold star to anyone who guessed that all this "stuff" must meet municipal and provincial safety and engineering standards.
