FCSS Grant Information
Grants for funding are available for community organizations wanting to run programs that meet funding criteria for preventive social services. The 2013 application deadline has now passed.
Presentations to the FCSS Advisory Committee will be scheduled between 5:30 – 8:45 PM on the evenings of March 5 & 6, 2013. For more information, please contact:

1. Review the Service Requirements below from the FCSS Conditional Agreement Regulation to ensure your project qualifies. 2. You may email your application however an original signed hard copy of your application must also be received.
Your grant application will be reviewed by the Okotoks FCSS Advisory Committee and a time will be scheduled for your organization to make a short presentation to the committee. 3. The Okotoks FCSS Advisory Committee will make a recommendation to Okotoks Town Council on each application. Council will consider the recommendations and makes the final decision on funding. 4. You will be advised in writing of the amount of funding that was approved for your application. Programs Supported by the Town of Okotoks FCSS Funding in 2012:
2011 2012 Funding Requests (11 KB) ![]() Provincial FCSS Regulation - Eligibility Requirements (Copied from Service requirements, under Section 2.1(1) of the regulation) Services provided under a program must: (a) be of a preventive nature that enhances the social well-being of individuals and families through promotion or intervention strategies provided at the earliest opportunity, and (b) do one or more of the following; (i) help people to develop independence, strengthen coping skills and become more resistant to crisis; (ii) help people to develop interpersonal and group skills which enhance constructive relationships among people; (iii) help people and communities to assume responsibility for decisions and actions which affect them; (iv) provide support that helps sustain people as active participants in the community. Services provided under a program must not; provide primarily for the recreational needs or leisure time pursuits of individuals; offer direct financial assistance to sustain an individual or family; be primarily rehabilitative in nature; or duplicate services that are ordinarily provided by a government or government agency. FCSS also supports preventive social programs offered by the Town of Okotoks Community Programs Branch. This helps to subsidize the programs so that costs are more affordable for participants. In 2012 this included: Life Skills Programs, Okotoks Youth Centre, Okotoks School Age Care Centre, Okotoks Children's Festival, and the Okotoks Healthy Family Resource Centre. |
