Limited VS Continued |
Limited Growth
|
Continued Growth |
|
Community Size |
+35,000 population based on the carrying capacity of the Sheep River. Population target reached within approx. 10 years. |
+60,000 population likely reached within 50 years. |
|
Water |
Continue to live within the capacity of the Sheep River. Water license transfers are required which are currently funded by new development. |
Will require a water pipeline. Currently pipelines are largely funded by the Province and new development. |
|
Effect on Boundary |
Little change to current Town boundary. Growth pressure in close proximity to the Town's boundary is anticipated. Minimal land annexation to accommodate industrial development. |
Anticipated population growth would be largely accommodated in the adjusted Town boundary. Land annexation to accommodate approx. 50 years of population growth. |
|
Community values such as small town atmosphere, a high quality of life and environmental responsibility can be achieved in both scenarios through strategic planning and citizen commitment. |
