In order to maintain the appearance of our cemetery and ensure the safety of visitors and employees, Open Spaces Staff will begin Cemetery Spring Clean-Up on May 9, 2013. This clean up includes: litter control, seeding and leveling of interment sites, and removing all non-approved memorabilia throughout the cemeteries that do not meet the requirements of the Cemetery By-law 26-84.
This bylaw states:
18. No person shall: (e) place or deposit any glass encased wreath or any stand, holder, vase, receptacle, jar, bottle, or pot made of glass on any lot;
We ask that family members clear the area around your family burial plot(s) prior to May 6 to facilitate ongoing maintenance this season.
Collected items, other than perishable or deteriorated items, will be stored if not claimed until June 9, 2013.

Application has been received to amend the Land Use Bylaw in order to permit a change from the current operation of a gas bar, convenience store and automotive service shop to solely operating as an automotive repair and service shop. A development permit application has also been received for changes to site layout and building elevations of the above property.
A public hearing has been scheduled for Council to consider both the Land Use Bylaw Amendment and the Development Permit Application at the date and time below:

Highline Electrical Constructors Ltd has been contracted by the Town Of Okotoks to perform construction and maintenance services in the area of Cimarron Boulevard and Cimarron Common. This includes, but is not limited to, construction and maintenance of traffic signal and communication devices in the Town of Okotoks. This requires that we sawcut and remove concrete and asphalt in order to locate existing utilities, install electrical conduits and install concrete bases. Steel structures complete ith traffic control heads will then be installed on the cured concrete bases followed by electrical wiring, connections and commissioning of the traffic signals and communication equipment. Necessary reparations will also be performed. This work requires that we, at times, restrict or reduce the driving lanes and pedestrian walkway areas. Signage will be erected warning of the impending construction. As well, cones, barricades or fencing will be erected to direct motorists and pedestrians to safe driving and walking areas and to protect the work area. If necessary, flag people will be utilized to indicate safe areas, Several mobilizations will be required to complete the various aspects of the project. Please warn children of the possible dangers. At all times, Highline Electrical Constructors will have personnel on site to answer any questions and address any concerns that may arise. Temporary Off-Leash Dog Park Access Road Closure Due to subdivision construction, the temporary access road to the Off-Leash Dog Park will be closed starting the week of October 7th. During the closure, off- leash dog park users are asked to access the area using existing pedestrian connections from the north. Notice regarding the ultimate off-leash park access will be posted in the future. The Town of Okotoks thanks you for your patience during this time.
Recycling Depot Detour As a result of intersection improvements at North Railway Street and 32nd Street, Recycling Depot traffic will be re-routed between October 12 and November 2, weather permitting. During this time, patrons are asked to use the detour as shown below. Access to businesses along North Railway Street between Stockton Avenue and the old 32nd Street alignment will remain open during this time. This includes the Town of Okotoks Operations Building.
