Councillor Carrie Fischer
Cell: (403) 370-2726
Carrie and her husband, Chris, were given the opportunity to relocate their family about five years ago and chose Okotoks because it immediately felt like home. Carrie quickly became deeply involved in the community with their three young children volunteering at the school, in the Municipal Planning Commission, in Okotoks Minor Hockey and in several community events. Carrie believes strongly that you are either part of the problem, or part of the solution and works hard to create solutions that facilitate a strong, healthy community for her children (and others) to grow up in.
Carrie has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Sciences. She has previous experience on council in Redwater where the family lived before moving to Okotoks. Among her many other responsibilities, during that time Carrie was actively involved in the building process of the Transit and GIS plans associated with the Capital Region Board (CRB) and attended the majority of the CRB meetings as alternate to the Mayor. That experience broadened her perspective on municipal issues allowing her to focus both on her own community and how her community fits into the wider context of a region. When not involved with her council and volunteer responsibilities, Carrie is dedicated to raising her three young children.
Carrie is committed to maintaining the culture and uniqueness of Okotoks as we build a strong future for this growing community.
