Municipal Election Information

Across Alberta general municipal elections are held every three years for Mayors, Councillors and School Board Trustees pursuant to the Alberta Local Authorities Election Act (LAEA). General voting day is always the third Monday in October.
 
The last Municipal Election was held on Monday, October 18, 2010. Candidates are voted in for a three-year term. There is one Mayor and 6 Councillors for Okotoks. The next Municipal Election will be held on Monday, October 21, 2013.
 
2010 Disclosure of Campaign Finances
Under Part 5.1, Municipal Election Finance and Contribution Disclosure, of the Local Authorities Election Act, candidates for Mayor and Council in the 2011 election are required to file financial disclosure statements.
