LED Streetlight Community Assessment

FortisAlberta and the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA) are launching a LED streetlight assessment project in Okotoks. The LED Streetlight Community Assessment in Okotoks began on September 13, 2011.

FortisAlberta and the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA) are implementing this test project as an assessment of the feasibility of LED streetlights. FortisAlberta Power Line Technicians will replace high pressure sodium (HPS) streetlights with light emitting diode (LED) streetlights in the following areas:
  • A portion of 32nd Street north of the river
  • In the subdivision of Alcock Street and Knowles Avenue
  • A portion of the Cimarron Grove subdivision.
Light replacements are expected to be complete by September 14, 2011. The operational assessment period will conclude by December 31, 2012 with the results of the LED Streetlight Community Assessment presented to Town Council by March 31, 2013. There is no additional cost to the Town of Okotoks for this study. Residents are invited to complete the LED Streetlight Online Survey.
